John Deere recognises that lubricants play a key role in ensuring the effective operation of agricultural machinery. Designing an oil to respond to the specific requirements of each engine is increasingly important. That is why they have used their considerable experience and expertise as one of the worlds leading engine manufacturers to develop a unique engine oil that meets the demanding need of new John Deere, and all other engines – ‘John Deere Plus-50 15W-40’.
This state of the art engine oil has been specifically designed to meet John Deere’s performance standards and to exceed all other industry requirements. When used with John Deere filters, ‘Plus-50 15W-40’ provides a significant increase in the oil drain interval, giving you more time in the field and less time in the workshop! In addition its exclusive formula also gives you improved performance, longer engine life and reduced oil consumption.
This high-performance oil is the only one to have passed the severe JDQ 78A test for extreme temperature resistance, guaranteeing its performance in even the most severe operating conditions. (Refer to the operator’s manual of your machine for specific oil requirements.
APPLICATIONS:
John Deere ‘Plus-50 15W-40’ is recommended for use in John Deere engines after Break-in oil has been used during the first 100 hours. This unique formula is also suitable for use in all other off and on highway heavy-duty diesel engine, including older generation engines, and is suitable for use in all temperatures.
ADVANTAGES:
Using John Deere ‘Plus-50 15W-40’ extends oil change intervals by up to 50% (from 250 to 375 hours) in all John Deere engine, and in selected machines, for example the new 6020 series tractors, by up to a maximum of 500 hours as specified in operator’s manuals. Its greater thermal stability ensures a cleaner running engine and significantly reduces engine wear, it gives you more power, longer engine life and reduced oil consumption and maintenance costs, as well as easier starting in cold weather.
APPROVALS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
‘Plus-50 15W-40’ meets the following requirements:

• SAE 15W40
• ACEA E5 
• MB 228.3 
• API CI-4/SL 
• JDQ 78A

In field tests using 3 different tractors, Plus-50 showed 47%, 33% and 43% less wear. These tests were run with high quality industry oils meeting or exceeding API CI-4. During testing various CI-4 oils at 135ºC, the viscosity of the new ‘Plus-50 15W-40, increased by only 36% in 400 hours of operation while the CH-4 industry reference oil, TMC 1005 increased by 330% in the same time.
